Welcome to The Mistress

The Mistress is a boat which operates dives and charters in Sussex, Brighton and Eastbourne. Based in Newhaven, The Mistress is operated by a crew with over 20 years' experience.

Diving from The Mistress can be chartered to dive most wrecks in the English Channel. Individuals and groups can participate in regular dives and trainees are welcome. Regular wreck dives take place in Sussex, Brighton and Eastbourne. Click here for further details. Other diving uses may include - sporting, technical, commercial, survey work, light cargo, film work, personnel transfer and ash scattering.

Contact us to check availability. The dives may be postponed on the day due to weather and tide and based on the skipper's discretion.

Boat fishing from Newhaven is excellent for cod in winter, large Channel whiting also give good sport. Monkfish off Beachy Head late August and Sept are a good catch.

We are based in Newhaven East Sussex well known for its fast Seacat service to Dieppe operated by Hoverspeed, situated at the mouth of the River Ouse, the entrance to Newhaven's harbour lies between two piers, protected from the prevailing wind by a substantial breakwater to the west.

The Mistress is moored in the marina and we have easy access to the boat jetty for trolleys with ample car parking on the site as well. We are well served locally within a few minutes walk with dive shops, fishing bait and tackle shops, a local cafe, bed and breakfast accommodation and a range of other local activities and attractions such as the historic local Fort, beachcombing, breakwater fishing and much more, Newhaven is the ideal place for a family day out.

We are also adjacent to the famous South Downs, which provides some breathtaking scenery, and exhilarating walks along the chalk downs of Sussex.

Getting to Newhaven is easy with good road and rail links to London Victoria, Newhaven is being redeveloped with a multi-million pound regeneration programme which will create new industrial facilities, revitalise Denton Island and develop the tourist potential of Newhaven Fort and West Quay.
